The business skills category of the Australian Migration Program is targeted towards professionals with high level business skills that can make a significant contribution to the Australian economy.

There are approximately 20 visa subclasses within the business skills category incorporating visas in three key business areas:-

  • Business owner
  • Senior executive
  • Business investor

Applicants are required to meet criteria which demonstrate:

  • a history of  successful business activity
  • superior management skills which have been applied at the highest levels of the management structure of a major business and will be utilised in the management of a qualifying business in Australia
  • a successful record of direct involvement in managing investments

Business activities that contribute positively to the Australian economy include:
  • Expansion of Australian trade in goods and services
  • Improvement of Australian business links with international markets
  • Competition within sectors of the Australian economy
  • Introduction or creation of improved technology or business skills
  • Creation of training and employment opportunities for Australians
