Students
Students wanting to study in Australia must be accepted for enrolment in an accredited and registered course which is offered by a registered educational institution. In addition, the course of study must be undertaken on a full time basis.
There are eight student visa subclasses that cover the spectrum of Australia’s education sector including:
- Schools
- English language intensive courses for overseas students (ELICOS)
- Vocational education and training
- Higher education
- Postgraduate research
- AusAID or Defence
- Non award
On completion of a diploma or higher education qualification students can follow a pathway to permanent residency in Australia.
